Abstract

Diabetes is a disease associated with elevated blood glucose levels continuously. In previous study, Muntingia calabura L leaves and Ruellia tuberosa L leaves are the part of plants that can be used as an alternative to diabetes treatment. This study aimed to know the infusion combination of M calabura leaf and R tuberosa leaf to decrease blood glucose level and to know the most effective comparison of dose combination. This study used infusion extraction method. The induction method used alloxan induction method. The animals were divided into 6 groups, each consisting of 5 mice. First group as negative control was given aquadest 0.2 ml, second group was given M calabura L leaf infusion 63 mg/BW of mouse, third group was given R tuberosa L leaf infusion 1000 mg/BW of mouse, fourth group was given combination of M calabura L and R tuberosa L leaf infusion (63mg:1000mg), fifth group was given the combination of M calabura L and R tuberosa L leaf infusion (63mg:500mg) and sixth group was given combination of M calabura L and R tuberosa L leaf infusion (31,5mg:1000mg). Measurement of blood sugar levels on the third day (T3), the seventh day (T7) and the fourteenth (T14). Data were analyzed by Kolmogorov Smirnov followed by one-way ANOVA (p <0.05). The results showed that all combination doses of Muntingia calabura L infusion and Ruellia tuberosa L infusion effective to decreased blood sugar levels but did not differ significantly with single dose .
