Abstract
Moringa oleifera oil has a high antioxidant effect due to the content of unsaturated fatty acids and the phytochemical compounds are xanthophylls and tocopherol. Nanoemulsion is a stable preparation and can increase the penetration of active substances so as to optimize the effects of antioxidants. Moringa seed oil characterization includes: density, acid number, saponification number, and peroxide number using titration method. The combination of surfactants and cosurfactants has an effect on the size of the nanoemulsion particles. Nanoemulsion is made using non-spontaneous energy using a sonicator with different surfactant-cosurfactant concentrations in 20 mL (100%) of the preparation. The evaluation of the selected formula was seen visually by observing the clarity of the formula, then tested the particle size with Particle Size Analyzer, formula selected from the smallest particle size and then tested for stability. Characterization of Moringa seed oil obtained results: density is 0.9111; acid number of 0,28 ; saponification number is 195,36 ; and peroxide number is 0.3048. Selected formula of moringa seed oil nanoemulsion with composition: 1% Moringa seed oil, 2,7% Tween 80, and 1,3% Ethanol 96% and aquademineral ad 100% in 20 mL formula obtained particle size of 20 nm showed stability at centrifuge test , Freeze-Thaw, and obtained relatively uniform droplets on the morphological test of nanoemulsion droplets. Storage of nanoemulsion for one month increased particle size to 26 nm and in Mann-Whitney test there was a significant difference to pH and viscosity test every week. Key words : Moringa seed oil, characterization, antioxidant, nanoemulsion
