Abstract
Lettuce is one of the vegetables that are often consumed in the raw state as in the burger. Raw lettuce can be a source of infection if not washed. Lettuce grow in a sitting position and are arranged in a solid rosette close to the ground so that the leaves can be in contact with the soil. This situation allows parasites such as Toxoplasma gondii oocysts located on the ground to easily stick to lettuce. Toxoplasma gondii infection can cause toxoplasmosis, in pregnant women can cause birth defects or miscarriage. This study aims to determine the presence or absence of Toxoplasma gondii oocysts contamination in lettuce. This study is observational research. Samples of lettuce vegetables were obtained from 20 burger cadger. The examination was done by sedimentation method with 0.2% NaOH solution. Preparate was made from sediments and were observed under a microscope with an objective magnification of 10x, 40x, and 100x using immersion oil. The examination is done with 4 repetitions. The results showed 1 of 20 samples of lettuce vegetables contaminated with Toxoplasma gondii oocysts with a percentage of 5%. The found oocysts stages are unporulated oocysts.
