Abstract
Hamlet Karanganyar, District Magetan majority of the population work as brick craftsman. Brick-making workers in their activities are always in contact with the soil and water, this causes the risk of fungal infections. The fungus that is usually the cause is dermatophyte. One part that is often affected by fungal infections is nails. Nails infected by fungi experience abnormalities such as friability. This study aims to determine the presence or absence of dermatophyte fungus on brick craft nails that experience the fragility and identify the type of dermatophyte fungi. The method used in this research is the method directly and indirectly. The method directly using 40% KOH solution, let stand 15 minutes after that was observed under a 10x10 microscope then 40x10. The method indirectly grew on Sabouraud Dextrose agar medium, and incubated at room temperature for 7 days. Result of research on ten sample of brick nails crafter experience of fragility, three samples found dermatophyte fungus. The type of dermatophyte fungus found is Epidermophyton floccosum.
