Abstract

Acute diarrhea is a major cause of morbidity and mortality to children around the world, due to heavy dehydration and fluid loss. The prevalence of using antibiotic in pediatric patients with acute diarrhea is still high but the accuracy of using antibiotic is still low events requires precision of therapy to suppress the morbidity. One aspect relating to this is the rationality of its antibiotic use. The purpose of this study is to know the description of the use of antibiotic and the rationality evaluation of antibiotic use on pediatric patients with acute diarrhea at inpatient care faculty of RSUD Kardinah Tegal City period 2016. This research is a non-experimental research. Data were collected retrospectively and analyzed descriptively. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. 68 data of medical records were obtained. This research was conducted by evaluating the rationale use of antibiotic use based on the proper indication, proper medicine, proper dosage, proper medicine delivery and proper length of medicine delivery. Data obtained compared to Hospital Formulary and World Gastroenterology Organization Global Guidelines (WGO 2012). The results showed that of 68 patients, the antibiotic use on pediatric patients with acute diarrhea at inpatient care facility of RSUD Kardinah Tegal City period 2016 is Ceftriaxone by 20,59%, Cefotaxime by 50% dan Metronidazol by 1,47%. Evaluation in use of antibiotics on pediatric patients with acute diarrhea according to Hospital Formulary is 100% and according to World Gastroenterology Organization Global Guidelines (WGO 2012) is proper indication by 85,29%, proper medicine by 85,29%, proper dosage by 91,18%, proper medicine delivery by 100% dan proper length of medicine delivery by 97,05%.
