Abstract

Diabetic mellitus is a chronic disease and can cause complications if not treated immediately. Treatment can be treated with glibenclamide and glimepiride. The use of antidiabetic or the treatment of type 2 diabetic mellitus needs attention, a correct therapy will be very beneficial for patients in terms of health and cost. The purpose of this study was to determine the cost-effectiveness analysis of therapeutic use of glibenclamide and glimepiride for treatment in RSUD Sukoharjo in 2015-2016. This study was taken cross sectionally in 89 treatment patients to know the effectiveness of drug therapy and therapy cost, Cost Efectiveness Analysis (CEA) method was used for inpatients with type 2 diabetic mellitus in RSUD Sukoharjo in 2015-2016. The sampling technique used was Purposive sampling from inpatients at RSUD Sukoharjo in 2015-2016. The calculation of therapeutic effectiveness is evaluated from the achievement of the targeted blood glucose reduction as well as the comparison of the mean total cost of using glibenclamide and glimepiride. The results of the CEA study in obtaining the average direct medical cost of glibenclamide was Rp. 1,038,927.53 while glimepiride was Rp. 1.353.278, 33. The effectiveness of therapy on glibenclamide therapy with a percentage of 73.68% compared with glimepiride with a percentage of 64.71%. The group of glibenclamide therapy is more cost-effectiveness than glimepiride. Key words: Cost-effectiveness, glibenclamide, glimepiride, type 2 diabetic mellitus
