Abstract

Inflammation is a protective response of the body from injury. Which is marked by red, heat and pain due to edema. One of the plants used for the treatment of inflammation of basil leaves. Basil leaves contain flavonoid, alkaloid, saponin and tanin. This research using basil leaf plant (Ocimum basilicum L.) for to know the activity of extracts and fractions having activity as antiinflamation. This research was conducted by using 30 wistar white mice was divided into 6 groups. Which consists of CMC-Na group (negative control), diclofenac natrium (positive control), and treat ethanol extract of basil leaves with dose 40mg / kb BB, fraction n-hexane 2,4 mg/kg BB, fraction etil asetat 5,425 mg/kg BB, and water fraction 32,2 mg/kg BB, Given orally before being given karagenin. Right rear foot of rats injected 1% by 0.1ml of karagenin to trigger inflammation. The measurement of edema volume was performed using pletismometer at t0, t1, t2, t3, t4, t5, and t24, and calculated its AUC to obtain an antiinflammatory power percentage (DAI). Further data were analyzed using ANAVA. The results showed that the water fraction has the highest antiinflammatory effect of other treatment groups with percentage of 38,94 %. The results showed a significant difference in the administration of water fraction 32,2 mg/kg BB with negative control and did not difference significantly with positive control.
