Abstract

Bleaching cream is a semi-solid dosage form containing one or more solvents in the appropriate ingredients. Damage to whitening cream products can be caused by microbial contamination of both fungi and bacteria that can come from the environment. The purpose of this study was to determine whether or not feasible whitening creams are sold freely in Gedhe Market Surakarta based on bacteriological requirements from BPOM. This test was conducted at Microbiology Laboratory Setia Budi University Surakarta.This test using five samples of bleach cream sold freely in Pasar Gedhe Surakarta with a different brand and then given the code A, B, C, D and E. The method is a bacteriological test. The results of the five samples of whitening cream examined on A whitening cream sample were qualified bacteriologically, while the B, C, D and E whitening cream samples did not meet bacteriological requirements. Presentation of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria contamination in cream was 0%, while Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria were 8% and Candida albicans was 35%.
