Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a disease of metabolic disorders characterized by an increase in blood glucose. Eosinophils are one type of leukocytes, has an important role in metabolic homeostasis especially in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Leukocytes play a role in the seleler and humoral defenses against inflammatory cell responses in blood vessels. The glycated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) is one of the blood glucose control tests. The higher HbA1c levels in patients, the greater the risk of developing complications associated with DM. This research applied observational analytical research design with cross - sectional approach. The subjects of the research were 100 samples, the data were analyzed using Kolmogorov-Smirnov test with the value of p>0,05. Data analysis using Pearson correlation with the value of p<0,05. The results show the value of r = -0,181 and p = 0,071 (p>0,05). It concludes that there is no value correlation found between the REL and HbA1c on patients type 2 diabetes mellitus. Further research is required to find out the correlation found between the REL on patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, in addition to HbA1c levels such as fasting plasma glucose or other inflammatory markers. Key words: Diabetes Mellitus, Eosinophil Ratio - Leukocytes , HbA1c.
