Abstract

Typhoid fever is an acute infection of small intestine caused by Salmonella typhi (S.typhi) bacteria is an endemic systemic infectious disease, which is transmitted through food or beverage consumed. Antibiotics are a group of drugs commonly used for treating typhoid fever. The aim of research was to determine the most used antibiotic for treatment typhoid fever of inpatients at Ambarawa Hospital Semarang Regency in 2016, was to determine rational use of antibiotic that includes right indication, exact drugs, precise dosage, and right patient of inpatient compared to Hospital Formulary Ambarawa Hospital in 2017 and Kemenkes 2014, and to determine the suitability of antibiotic use for typhoid fever in Ambarawa Hospital Semarang Regency to Hospital Formulary Ambarawa Hospital in 2017 and Kemenkes 2014. The research was conducted with retrospective design secondary descriptive with retrospective method that s research based on patient’s media record, look back to events that happened in the past. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Data obtained as many as 102 samples which meet the inclusion criteria that pediatri to geriatri patients with typhoid fever at Inpatient Instalationin January-December 2016 in Ambarawa Hospital Semarang Regency, got antibiotic therapy, without complication disease and had complete medical record. The research results show that typhoid fever patients in Ambarawa Hospital Semarang Regency consists of the most antibiotics used were Ceftriaxon (45,83%), Thiamphenicol (5,83%), Cefotaxime (15,84%), Cefixime (12,59%), Kloramfenikol (0,8%), Ciprofloxacin (7,5%), and Levofloxacin (11,6%). Evaluation of antibiotic use was known right indications (100%), right drug (100%), right patient (100%) and right dose (67,5%). Keywords: typhoid fever, antibiotic use, rationality.
