Krokot (Portulaca oleracea L.) is a plant that has various pharmacological activities but is not widely used by the people of Indonesia becauseit is considered as weed. This study aims to determine the effect of ethanol extract 96% purslane leaf on decreased total cholesterol and triglyceride levels and to know the effective dose that can reduce total cholesterol and triglyceride levels in blood serum of white male rats hyperlipidemic. The experimental research was conducted for 28 days using 30 rats divided into 6 groups: negative group (CMC-Na 0,5%), positive group (simvastatin 0,9 mg / Kg BW), positive group (gemfibrozil 54 mg / Kg BW), various dose ethanol extract of purslane leaf 100 mg / Kg BW, 200 mg / Kg BW and 400 mg / Kg BW. All groups were given a high-fat diet and propylthiouracil induction for 14 days. Measurements of total cholesterol and triglyceride levels were measured on day 0 (T0), day 14th(T1) and day 28th(T2). Test results were analyzed statistics The results showed that ethanol 96% extract of purslane leaf decreased total cholesterol and triglyceride levels and the most effective dose in reducing total cholesterol and triglyceride of white male rats hyperlipidemic was 400mg / kg BW.
