Abstract

Pain is defined as a sensory and emotional experience that not associated with tissue damage. This aims of this research were to determine analgesic effects of etanolic extract, n-hexane fractions, ethyl acetate, and water fractions from etanolic extract mangosteen rind and determine showed most good analgesic activity from fractions. Mangosteen rind powder was extracted by maceration method used 96% ethanol solvent and the fractionation used n-hexane, ethyl acetate and water solvent. This research with tail flick metod used 40 male with mice strain balb/c divided in 6 groups, negative control (CMC Na), comparison control (mefenamic acid 65 mg/kg BW), ethanolic extract mangosteen rind (dose 70 mg/kg BW, dose 140 mg/kg BW, and dose 280 mg/kg BW), n-hexane fractions (dose 7,14 mg/kg BW), ethyl acetate fractions (dose 88,41 mg/kg BW), water fractions (dose 184,45 mg/kg BW. In this research the measured every thirty minutes until 3 hours after orally. Data analysis used Shapiro-wilk test and one-way ANOVA test and continued with LSD poshoc test. The result of pain inhibition, ethanol extract (dose 70 mg 48,41%, dose 140 mg 44,51%, and 280 mg 69,88%), asmef 75,75%fraction of n-heksan 51,01%, ethyl acetate 74,99%, and water fraction 67,68%.The results of this research all group was different significantly compared to negative control, but ethyl acetate fractions was not different significantly compared to comparison control. It was indicated etanolic extract and fractions have analgesic activity and ethyl acetate fractions showed most good analgesic activity.
