Abstract
The herbs of ciplukan is one of the plants used as a traditional medicine for anti-arthritis and anti-cancer. This study aims to determine the effects of acute and subchronic toxicity on toxic symptoms and macropathological changes, LD50 values, SGOT and SGPT levels, and histopathologic images of rat liver organ. The extract herbs of ciplukan is obtained from the maceration process. This study used 25 female rats for acute toxicity test, divided into 5 groups. Group I –V administered with herbal extract of ciplukan doses of 250, 500, 1000, 2000 and 4000 mg / Kgbw respectivelly. Subcronic toxicity test using 50 male rats and 50 female rats, divided into 5 groups. The first group of negative control was given 1% CMC, 3 treatment groups were prepared with herbal extract of ciplukan doses of 250, 500, 1000 mg/kgbw, and satellite group was given 1000 mg / kgbw. The study lasted for 90 days and added 28 days in the satellite group to see the reversible effect. SGOT and SGPT levels are checked every 30 days. At the end of the examination the test animals were sacrificed for histopathological tests. The results of this study indicate that administration of herbs extract of ciplukan on acute toxicity test has a value of LD50 more of 4000 mg / kgbw mice and affect toxic symptoms of depression and increased activity changes at a dose of 4000 mg / kgbw. While in subcronic toxicity test, herbs extract of ciplukan dose 250 mg / kgbw, 500 mg / kgbw, and 1000 mg / kgbw did not cause liver biochemical changes and macropathological changes but affect the histopathological changes of the liver.
