Abstract
Tenebrio sp. is one of the insects used as a traditional medicine to treat degenerative diseases. This toxicity test aimed to determine the acute toxicity of Tenebrio sp. powder (Tenebrio sp.) given orally by determination of LD50, the influence on clinical symptoms and macropathology of organs. Test animals used in this acute toxicity of female mice, 30 animals, which are grouped into 6 groups. Giving of Japanese ant powder 7, 70, 420, 2800, and 7000 mg/kgBB and CMC 0,5% as control. Observations made in this test is toxic symptoms, number of dead animals, and macropathological observations. Observations made during the 24 hours up to 14 days after the administration of the test material. The dead mice with surgery and weighing of organs of the stomach, intestines, liver, kidney, and heart. At the end of the experiment, the mice were dissected entirely for macropathological observation. From the results of the test did not get the mice that die so that used pseudo LD50 is ≥ 7000 mg / kg weight mice. Tenebrio sp. powder effects the behavior change of mice especially at dose 7000mg/kg weight mice. In macropathology does not effect damage to the organs of the stomach, intestines, liver, kidneys and heart. And does not effect the weight of organs, weight, and index of organs. Keywords: japanese ant (tenebrio sp), acute toxicity test, LD50, clinical symptoms, macropathology.
