Abstract

Leaf of Kacapiring (Gardenia jasminoides J. Ellis) have the content of compounds flavonoid the role as antioxidant expected potentially decrease blood glucose levels and decrease the number of necrosis cells in the obsevation histopathology of pancreatic rat. The purpose of this research is to determine the effective dose of kacapiring (Gardenia jasminoides J. Ellis) leaf extract can decrease blood glucose levels and number of necrosis cells in rats diabetes that induced alloxan. This research uses 30 male rats were divided into 6 groups. Group I as a normal control; II as a diabetic control; III as a glibenclamide control; IV,V and VI as a test to extract of kacapiring leaf dose 125 mg/kgBB, 250 mg/kgBB and 500 mg/kgBB for 14 days. Animals test induced with alloxan dose 150 mg/kgBB intraperitoneally. Measure blood glucose levels using glucose oxidase (GODPAP) methode and histopathologi of pancreatic rat on the day to 15th. The results showed that extract kacapiring leaf dose 125 mg/kgBB, 250 mg/kgBB and 500 mg/kgBB can decrease blod sugar levels and reduce number of necrosis cells. Dose of the most effective in decrease blood sugar levels and reduce number of necrosis cells is a dose 500 mg/kgBB. Keyword : Kacapiring leaf, anthihiperglikemi, histopathology of panceatic.
