Abstract

The bidara plant (Zizyphus mauritiana Lamk.) in traditional medicines can be used to treat a variety of ailments flu, convulsions, and malnutrition related diseases in children. Phytochemical analysis of methanolic extract of bidara leaves contains saponin, tannins, flavonoids, terpenoids, phenolic compounds. Tannins can be used antimicrobial and antioxidant. Saponin can be used anticancer, antifungal, antiinflamatory, and antibacterial. This study aims to determine of activity of the fraction of n-hexsane, ethyl acetat, water and ethanol extract of bidara leaf’s as antibacterial Salmonella typhi ATCC 13311. Bidara leaf (Zizyphus mauritiana Lamk.) was extraced by maceration method used ethanol 70%, than fractionation used n-hexsane, ethyl acetat, and water solvents. Antibacterial activity fraction and extraction was tested for diffution method and dilution methode. Diffution methode with serial concentrations of 50%; 25%; 12,5%. The most effective compounds than tested with dilution. Bacteria test using Salmonella typhi ATCC 13311. The results showed that ethanol extract, fraction of n-hexsane, ethyl acetat, and water from bidara leaf had antibacterial activity against Salmonella typhi ATCC 13311. Concentration of 50% ethyl acetat fraction had the most effective antibacterial activity with inhibitory diameter of 14 mm and Minimum Kill Concentration (MKC) of 12,5 % against Salmonella typhi ATCC 13311 bacteria.
