Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is a disease characterized by high blood glucose levels that can lead to the buildup of fatty acids in the liver thus triggering the formation of free radicals such as malondialdehyde (MDA). The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of Sintrong leaves extract in lowering glucose level and MDA content in alloxan-induced experimental animal with 150 dose mg/kg experimental animal BW. Sintrong leaves powder was extracted by using maceration method with 96% ethanol solvent. About 30 male white wistar strains rat were divided into 6 groups, namely negative control CMC-Na 0.5%, glibenclamid positive control 0.45 mg / kg BW, Sintrong leaves extract with 75 mg dose/kg BW, 150 mg/kg BB and 300 mg/kg BW. The results of this study showed that average glucose levels of the three doses used (75, 150 and 300 mg/kg BW) were 148,703 mg/dl, respectively; 122,929 mg/dl and 115,56 mg/dl. The mean of MDA levels were 7.421; 5,019 and 2,87 nmol/g and the effective dose of Sintrong leaf extract found at dose 75 mg/kg BW.
