Abstract

Sembukan (Paederia foetida L.) is a multifunctional plant in Indonesia, known as its insecticide activity. The aimed of this study was to determine extract, n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction and water fraction of the ethanolic extract of sembukan leaves which has activity insecticides on Aedes aegypti mosquito. Concentrated ethanol extract obtained by solvent extraction using maceration with 96% ethanol, then proceed with the fractionation to obtain fractions of n-hexane, ethyl acetate and water fractions. Each extract and fraction made a series concentration of 500 ppm, 1000 ppm, and 1500 ppm subsequently tested on 25 Aedes aegypti for each treatment. Observations were made for 20 minutes to see paralyzed and 24 hours to see the death of the mosquito. KC50 and LC50 calculated using probit analysis. The result is the ethyl acetate fraction of ethanolic extract of sembukan leaves (Paederia foetida L.) has the highest activity as insecticides against Aedes aegypti compared with extract, n-hexane fractions and water fractions with KC50 679,169 ppm and LC50 566,345 ppm.
