Abstract

Pometia pinnata leaves contain flavonoid, saponin and tannin. Flavonoid, saponin and tannin has an effect in increasing HDL levels and decreasing LDL levels. This research aims to know the effect of Pometia pinnata leaves 96% ethanol extract on the increased HDL level and decreased LDL level in rat blood serum and to know the effective dose that can prove it. The extraction method used maceration with 96% ethanol. This research used 30 white male rats were divided into 6 groups, namely: group I normal, group II hyperlipidemia control, group III comparison control of simvastatin, group IV, V and VI are Pometia pinnata leaves extract dose 100 mg/kgBW, 200 mg/kgBW and 400 mg/kgBW. All rats measured HDL and LDL levels before and after treatment since day 0th, 14th and 28th. Induction of hyperlipidemia used PTU 0,625%, fatty pork and yellow quail egg for 14 days. Treatment after induction of hyperlipidemia given for 14 days. The analyzed of HDL and LDL levels used in this research was ANOVA advanced with Dunnet T3. The result showed that Pometia pinnata leaves ethanol extract dose 100 mg/kgBW, 200 mg/kgBW and 400 mg/kgBW could increase HDL and decrease LDL levels of white male rat. The effective dose of Pometia pinnata leaves ethanol extract to increase HDL levels and decrease LDL levels dose of 400 mg/kgBW. Keywords: Pometia pinnata leaves, hyperlipidemia, HDL and LDL levels.
