Abstract

Noni fruit (Morinda citrifolia L.) and mangkokan leaf (Nothopanax scutellarius (Burm. f.) Merr.) has a nutritiouns compound to overcome dandruff. This study aims to determine the antifungal activity of combination of noni fruit (Morinda citrifolia L.) and mangkokan leaf (Nothopanax scutellarius (Burm. f.) Merr.) to Pityrosporum ovale fungi and to determine the ratio of the most effective concentration in inhibiting the growth of Pityrosporum ovale. Noni Fruit Extract and mangkokan leaf was extracted using maceration method using ethanol 96%. The antifungal activity against Pityrosporum ovale ATCC 3179 was tested by the difussion method. The inhibition zone diameter was measured using comparison of 1:1, 1:2, and 2:1. Ketokonazol was used as positive control was and DMSO 1% was used as negative control. The study showed that noni fruit extract and leaf mangkokan extract had antifungal activity against Pityrosporum ovale ATCC 3179. Diameter of inhibition zone of combination of noni fruit and mangkokan leaves on average in the ratio of 1: 1 is 24.28 mm, 1: 2 ratio of 21.48 mm, and in the 2: 1 ratio of 24.38 mm. An antifungal activity that has the largest inhibitory zone diameter of comparison and is most effective against ATCC 3179 Pityrosporum ovale is a 2: 1 ratio in 100% concentrations with a diameter of 24.38 mm.
