Abstract

Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is an infection that is characterized by the growth and proliferation of bacteria in the urinary tract, including infections in the kidney parenchyma until the bladder with a significant amount of bacteriuria. The sample used is the urine of urinary tract infections patient in RSUI Kustati Surakarta. The purpose of this study was to determine the sensitivity of the bacteria Escherichia coli to the antibiotic ciprofloxacin, sefixime, amikacin imipenem, and cotrimoxazole. Escherichia coli bacterium was isolated from the urine of inpatients in Kustati Surakarta Local General Hospital using Endo Agar, that was then identified microscopically and biochemially. The sensitivity test was conducted to find out the resistibility of each antibiotics and to find out the sensitivity pattern of antibiotics against Escherichia coli bacterium. The data of antibiotic resistibility diameter was processed using Kruskall Wallis test. The result of research showed that out Escherichia coli sensitivity pattern Ciprofloxacin antibiotic 10.00% resistant and 90.00% sensitive, cefixime 50.00% sensitive, 17% resistant, 33.33% intermediate, amikacin 5.00% resistant,13.00% intermediate, and 81,67% sensitive, imipenem 100% sensitive, as well as the cotrimoxazole 41.6% resistant, 30.00% intermediate, and 28,33% sensitive. Imipenem was the most effective antibiotic to cure the urinary tract infection caused by Escherichia coli bacterium. ______________________________________________________________ Keywords: urinary tract infection, Escherichia coli, sensitivity, antibiotic
