Abstract

Attempts to suppress the effects of paracetamol require a hepatoprotector agent such as avocado seed. Flavonoids and phenols are the active compounds contained in avocado seeds (Persea americana Mill.). Flavonoids and phenols are able to act as antioxidants and hepatoprotectors. This study aims to determine the effect of ethanol seed extract of avocado seed on hepar histopathology of male wistar rats induced paracetamol As many as 30 wistar rats were divided into 6 groups. Group I as normal control group that only given CMC Na 1%. Group II as a negative control group that is given paracetamol (1.35 g / kg BW) and CMC Na 1%. Group III as a positive control was given paracetamol and Curcuma® (18 mg /Kg BW). Groups IV, V, and VI were group given paracetamol (1.35 g / kg BW) and ethanol extract of avocado seeds in respective doses of 90, 180, 360 mg / kg BW. test preparation given for 6 consecutive days.On the 7th day the rats induced paracetamol toxic dose according to the division of the group. After the treatment was completed the rats dissected on day 9 to take hepar and made preparations. Then the preparations are observed under a microscope. The results of this study indicate that the group of avocado ethanol extract at doses of 90 mg /kg BW, 180 mg / kg BW, and 360 mg / kg BW can provide hepatoprotective effect on hepatic histopathology. While the dose of 180 mg / kg BW has a more effective hepatoprotective. Keywords: hepar, paracetamol, avocado seeds (Persea americana Mill.) histopathology.
