Abstract

Urinary tract infection (UTI) is a growing number of germs in the urinary tract. The high prevalence of UTI results in high consumption of antibiotics. Incorrect use of antibiotics may increase bacterial resistance as well as increased side effects. The purpose of this study was to analyze the exact suitability of the drug, precise dosage and precise indication, length of use of antibiotic based on Guideline Dipiro in 2008. This research was cross-sectional study with retrospective data collection. The data collection from medical records of UTI inpatients at Purwodadi Hospital from January 1st 2013- December 31th 2013. Data analyze using univariate analysis in form of frequency distribution and percentage of each variable. The results showed that antibiotics used in hospitalized UTI patients at Purwodadi Hospital in 2013 were ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, ofloxacin, cefotaxime, cefixime, and cefriaxon. Based on the indicator of right indicator the whole patient was correct, indicator of right dose 70 patients was correct and 33 patients was incorrect, indicator of length of use 73 patients was correct and 30 patients was incorrect.
