Abstract

Essential oils containing citronellal lime leaves are useful as antibacterial, because it can damage the cell walls so that the bacteria inhibited. The direct use of ineffective and impractical, so a spray gel.This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of essential oils gel spray lime leaves against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 infection in vivo. Lime leaves steam distilled water, essential oil obtained by spray gel made with a concentration of 1%, 2% and 4%, then tested the physical quality and stability. Test Antibacterial spray gel by observing the healing time of infection by the loss of erythema, pus and a decrease in the number of bacterial colonies using the method of Plate count, The data obtained were processed with statistical Analysis of Variance method of two-way. Essential oils can be made lime leaves spray gel preparation with a good physical quality and good stabilitias at a concentration of 1% and 2%. The test results spray gel antibacterial activity of essential oil of kaffir lime leaves with different concentrations of antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 were infected in rabbits. based on the test Kolmogorov Smirnov, significance 0.159> 0.05, spray gel essential oil of kaffir lime leaves to a concentration of 4% has the most optimal healing effect against Staphylococcus aureus aureus ATCC 25923 who are infected in rabbits.
