Abstract

Acute gastroenteritis is an inflammatory disease of the stomach, small intestine, and large intestine usually caused by bacterial infections, viruses, and pathogenic parasites. Antibiotics is a drug used for the treatment of acute gastroenteritis by inhibiting the growth and killing of bacteria. The purpose of this study to determine the effectiveness of therapy, the average total cost, and cost-effective therapy between ceftriaxone and cefotaxime injection on acute gastroenteritis treatment of inpatient patients in RSUD dr. Soediran Mangun Sumarso Wonogiri year 2016. This study was an observational study done with cross-sectional design with a sample of 20 inpatient patients with acute gastroenteritis using ceftriaxone injection antibiotics and 21 inpatient patients with acute gastroenteritis using cefotaxime injection antibiotics in RSUD dr. Soediran Mangun Sumarso Wonogiri year 2016. The data obtained shows the percentage of patients achieving a therapeutic target of treatment group ceftriaxone injection 70% with an average total cost of Rp 1.713.015,25 while the treatment group cefotaxime injection obtained percentage of patients achieving a therapeutic target which was 80,95% with an average total cost of Rp 1.532.575,52. So the value of ACER in cefotaxime injection treatment group was lower than ceftriaxone injection treatment group was Rp 18.932,37 which means that therapy with cefotaxime injection more cost-effective than ceftriaxone injection on acute gastroenteritis treatment of inpatient patients in RSUD dr.
