Abstract

Binahong leaves (Anredera cardiofolia.) and aloe daun lidah buaya (Aloe barbadensis) in previous studies had antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli. The aim of this research is to know the combination activity of binahong leaves extract and aloe vera on various combinations. Leaves of binahong and aloe vera are each powdered and extracted by maceration method using 70% ethanol solvent. Both extracts were combined with a ratio of (1: 1), (1: 2), and (2: 1), a series of dilution concentrations of 50%; 25%; 12.5%; 6.25%; 3.1%; 1.5%; 0.7%, 0.3%, 0.1%; 0.09%; Tested against Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 dilutionally. The result of antibacterial test showed that the combination of ethanol extract of 70% of binahong and aloe vera has antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli with 25% Minimum Inhibitors Concentration. The most effective combination of combinations (2:1), this is possible because the extracted leaves of binahong and aloe vera have contain flavonoid, tanin, and saponin compounds.
