Abstract
The pepino fruit plant (Solanum muricatum Aiton.) Is empirically efficacious as a laxative. Chemically allegedly potent substances can be used as laksansia such as saponins with detergensia, alkaloid, flavonoids and polyphenols that can stimulate the intestines. This study was conducted to prove scientifically laxative efficacy of pepino ethanol extract and look for effective dose as laksansia. This research used transit intestinal method with Wistar strain male white rat test. Test animals were induced constipation with oral loperamide 3 mg / kg BW daily for 3 days. Constipation mice were divided into 5 groups at random. Each group was given 0,5% CMC, pepino fruit extract dose 312,5 mg/kg BW, 625 mg/kg BW, 1250 mg/kg BW, and Na.dokusinat 0,9 mg / 200 g BB rat orally. After being treated the mouse was silenced for 45 minutes, then dioral marker peristaltic velocity 1 ml / ekor. A 20 minute interval of the mouse was dissected and measured in length of intestine through which the marker (norit) and the length of the intestine were entirely. The results showed that all groups of pepino fruit extracts had a laxative effect. Pepino fruit extract dose 312,5 mg/kg BW and 625 mg/kg BW have effect equal to Na.dokusinat. Pepino fruit extract dose 1250 mg/kg BW gave a laxative effect higher than Na.dokusinat. Keywords: Pepino fruit (Solanum muricatum Aiton.), Laxative, transit intestinal method.
