Abstract

Belanda eggplant (Solanum betaceum) is one of the fruit in Indonesia and is often used by humans for various disease which one of the chemical content of Belanda eggplant is flavonoids that efficacious as an alternative antidiabetic drugs. This study aims to determine the effect of extracts Belanda eggplant (Solanum betaceum) fruit to decrease in the levels of blood glucose on diabetic mice that induced by alloxan intraperitoneally and to determine an effective dose in lowering blood glucose. The test animals were divided into 5 groups, each group contain a 5 tailed white male rats, namely Group 1 as diabetes control (CMC 0.5%), group II as control comparator (glibenclamide), and group III, IV, V given Belanda eggplant extract respectively 200 mg / kg rat, 400 mg / kg, and 600 mg / kg. All groups induced by alloxan on day 0 (after fasted for 17 hours) intraperitoneally. Examination the level of glucose on day 4th, 7th, 10th and 14th after given by the fruit extract. The test results showed that the Belanda eggplant fruit extract has antihperglikemik activity. 3 belanda eggplant fruit extract dose variation can lower blood glucose levels. Dose of 200 mg / kg and 600 mg / kg had a significant impact on the reduction in glucose levels but a dose of 400 mg / kg did not provide optimal results. The larger the dose of Belanda eggplant fruit extract followed by a rise antihiergikemik effect significantly. Keywords: (Solanum betaceum), diabetic mouse, alloxan, antihyperglycemic
