Abstract
Oxidative stress is a factor that can cause decrease of memory fuction. Green apple (Pyrus malus L.) peel contain chemical materials which have activity as antioxidant, so it can be used as increase memory function. This study was aimed to determine the effect of green apple (Pyrus malus L.) peel ethanol extract to increase of memory and determine the effective dose of green apple peel ethanol extract in test animal by Morris Water Maze method. This study was used 25 white mice (Mus musculus) which divided into 5 groups, each group consist of 5 mice. Group 1 Gingko biloba (positive control), group 2 CMC 1% (negative control), groups of 3,4 and 5 were given green apple peel extract with each dose of 40 mg/kg BW, 60 mg/kg BW, and 80 mg/kg BW administered orally. The data were analyzed statistically using one-way ANOVA. The results of Morris Water Maze showed that there was significant difference between negative control with treatment groups. Green apple peel ethanol extract had effect increasing of memory at doses of 40 mg/kg BW, 60 mg/kg BW, and 80 mg/kg BW. Based on the results it could be concluded that in group of apple peel extract with dose of 80 mg/kg BW was the most effective in increasing memory of white mice.
