Abstract

Gastroenteritis caused by bacterial infection and viruses. In some cases of gastroenteritis bacterial or protozoa, antibiotics tend to accelerate the completion of clinical diarrhea. Improper use of antibiotics in healthcare can cause a therapy become less effective. This study was aimed to knowing the most widely use of antibiotic, the rationality used of antibiotic in gastroenteritis disease inpatient at RSUD Karanganyar appropriate with hospital formulary, “Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (JGH) 2002” and “World Gastroenterology Organization (WGO) 2012”. The method used in this study was descriptive retrospective with total population of 220 out of 597 patients with gastroenteritis diagnose. Sample use in this study was medical record of gastroenteritis patient who received antibiotic therapy and include in inclusion criteria. The data obtained were analyzed with Microsoft excel, so the rationality of the results obtained from these data. The results of analysis from medical records obtained the most widely used antibiotic is cefotaxime. Analyze the suitability of antibiotics by FRS is 73%, JGH is 37%, and WGO is 26%. Analyze the rationality of antibiotics by JGH and WGO obtain indication precise as 6%, drug precise as 6%, patient precise as 100%, and dose precise each as 24% and 18%.
