Abstract
Banana (Musa paradisiaca var.sapientum) is one of Indonesian plant and empirically efficacious as dysentery, diarrhea, hemoptysis and urinary tract infections. Banana peel chemical constituents are essential flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, tannins, steroids, and triterpenoids. This research was conducted to determine the etanolic extracts, fraction activity n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and water of banana peel as antibacterial against Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853. The banana peel powder was macerated using ethanol 96%, that was then concentrated, followed with fractionation using n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and water solvent. Concentration of ethanolic extracts and fractions for use difution test 50%, 25% and 12,5%. The product of etanolic extracts and fraction were tested the antibacterial activity using diffusion method. Data were analyzed with ANOVA. The results showed that the etanolic extracts, n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction and water fraction banana peel has antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853 at a certain concentration. Inhibitory average diameter ethanolic extract, n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction and water fraction with the concentration 50% at Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853 respectively 17,5 mm, 20,5 mm, 12,33 mm, 15,5 mm. The fraction of nhexane from ethanolic extracts of banana peel is the most active antibacterial activity compared with the fraction of ethyl acetate and water. the chemical constituents of the n-hexane fraction are steroids, triterpenoids and flavonoids. Keywords: Banana, peel, antibacterial, diffusion, Musa paradisiaca var.sapientum, Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
