Abstract

Methyl eugenol are eugenol derivatives used as pheromones fruit male flies Bactrocera dorcalis. This research aims to synthesize the compound methyl eugenol through eugenol methylation reactions catalyzed NaOH material methylation dimethyl sulfate (DMS) on variations in temperature and make the model more effective traps to capture fruit male flies out of the trap of the old model. Methyl eugenol with initial eugenol material catalyzed NaOH methylation material dimethyl sulfate (DMS) at temperature variations. Purity testing of compounds using gas chromatography, IR spectroscopy and proton NMR Spectroscopy 1H and test pheromone fruit orchards. Results showed that methyl eugenol successfully synthesized with the initial eugenol material catalyzed NaOH with methylation dimethyl sulfate material temperature in all trials and pitfalls that made even more effective than the old trap. GC Purity test showed cold temperatures (± 7 ° C) to produce the highest purity of 82.31%. The results of 1H-NMR and infrared spectral synthesis methyl eugenol used eugenol the initial material showed chemical structure agree with forecasts.
