Abstract
Typhoid fever is a bacterial infectious disease, caused by Salmonella typhi. The disease is transmitted through the consumption of food or drink contaminated by the feces or urine of infected people. The development of MDR Salmonella typhi so fast in some countries, resulting in mortality of typhoid fever cases in children is rising, the experts look for another alternative treatment for typhoid fever that fever down quickly short maintenance period and reduced relapses. This research aims to use antibiotics more effective ceftriaxon or cefixim seen from typhoid fever clinical outcome in pediatric patients hospitalized in Panti Waluyo Hospital Surakarta. This study was conducted to compare the effectiveness of two antibiotics. This study uses secondary data in patients with typhoid fever period from January to December 2015. Data were taken include: patient characteristics, duration of fever and loss of GI complaints, length of hospitalization, cost of drugs. The results showed that group therapy is more effective cefixim views of clinical outcome in the form of a long-lost fever, loss of GI complaints, length of hospitalization, cost of medication daily average respectively 2.5 days, 1.5 days, 4.28 days and drug costs an average of US $ 3411.00 per day compared to group therapy with clinical outcome ceftriaxon consecutive 3 days, 2 days, 4.16 days and the average cost of the drug per day Rp 7673.00.
