Abstract

Staphylococus aureusis a bacteria in the normal of the human body but can be phatogenic if the growth in the body beyound normal limits. Rosella calyces (Hibiscus sabdariffa Linn) and seligi leaves (Phyllanthus buxifolium Muell, Arg) has been investigated its antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus. Thisstudy aims to determine the activity of the combinasion of rosella calyces and seligi leaves ectract in varying ratios. Seeds of Rosella calyces and seligi leaves extracted using maceration method using 70% ethanol. Rosella calyces and seligi leaves with comparion (1:1); (1:2): and (2:1) , with concentration 50%, 25% and 12,5% cotrimoxazole as controls for comparison. Test conducte in diffusion. Antibacterial test results showed the combination of extracts have antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 on a comparisomn of the concentration (1:1) and (2:1). Camparison of the most effective combinasion that is (2:1) concentration of 50 %. Test bioautografi known compounds that have antibacterial activity are flavonoids.
