Abstract
Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the heart disease caused by coronary artery narrowing. CHD became the first murderer in the world, which as to 36% of all deaths. CHD with hypertension is a strong risk factor for morbidity and mortality of CHD patients. Appropriate therapy for the management of blood pressure needed to reduce the increase risk of death in CHD patients. The number of antihypertensive drug classes that have actions, effectiveness, side effects which different is a challenge for the pharmacist to give clear and thorough information individually in order to improve successfull treatment. This study was conducted to evaluate the antihypertensive drug usage in CHD patients. The study was descriptive with retrospective data collection. The population study was all CHD patients who underwent treatment at inpatient installation of A.W. Sjahrani Hospital Samarinda in 2015. The sample was CHD patients who underwent treatment at Inpatient Installation of A.W. Sjahranie Hospital Samarinda who met the inclusion criteria. The results showed that the most antihypertensive usage was class of βblocker with the number of 65 (24.25%). Antihypertensive drug of CHD patients in A.W. Sjarhanie Hospital largely in accordance with the Hospital Formulary, and JNC VII, but there was a few drugs that did not in accordance to the Hospital Formulary such as Candesartan, Micardis, and Losartan. In addition there was several drugs that did not in accordance with JNC VII i.e. furosemide, telmisartan, candesartan, valsartan, and losartan. Keywords: retrospective, antihypertensive drug, CHD
