Abstract

The infection is generally overcome with antibiotics therapy. Antibiotic is a substances produced by microbes, which can inhibit or eradicate microbes. Kotrimoksazol is an antibiotic combined with trimetropim and sulfamethoxazole, which has broad spectrum and it is effective against positive and negative Gram bacteria. Kapok randu leaf is useful as anti-bacterial. This research aims to find out the synergistic effect of the combination of ethyl acetate fraction from kapok leaf ethanol extract and cotrimoksazol to Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 and also an analysis of KLT and bioautography in order to know the compound potential as antibacterial. Kapok randu leaf was extracted by the macerasi method using the ethanol 70%, and was fractionated with ethyl acetate. The method of testing is disk diffusion by measuring the diameter of inhibition zone. The effective concentration of ethyl and cotrimoxazole fraction is 12.5%, and 0.038%. Comparison between the combination of the ethyl acetate fractions from ethanol extract and cotrimoxazole, is: 1: 9; 2: 8; 3: 7; 7: 3; 8: 2, and 9: 1. The results of this research shows that the ratio 1: 9 and 2: 8 from kapok randu leaf ethanol extract and cotrimoksazole to Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 have the similar activity with cotrimoksazole based on the result of diameter of resistor zone which is formed, that is 22.83 mm and 21.33 mm.
