Abstract
The beluntas leaves (Pluchea indica Less) contains flavonoid and polyphenol compound that has been used as antioxiodant. Beluntas leaves extract was formulated with sweetener combination of mannitol and lactose. This study was aimed to know the influence of the combination of mannitol and lactose on the physical properties of the granule, tablet and antioxidant activity of beluntas leaves extract of lozenges. Beluntas leaves extract was got by maceration method using 96% ethanol as solvent. Lozenges of beluntas leaves extract was made by wet granulation method with comparison of the concentration of mannitol and lactose of FI (235mg : 500mg), FII (335mg : 400mg), FIII (435mg : 300mg), FIV (535mg : 200mg) and FV (635mg : 100 mg). Granul and tablet were evaluated by physical properties and antioxidant activity with DPPH method. The result showed that an increase of mannitol would increase flow rate and angle of repose of granules. The result showed that an increase of mannitol increase hardness, sweet taste and reduce friability of lozenges, an increase of lactose reduce dissolving time. Extract and lozenge formula had antioxidant activity. Key words : Beluntas leaves, lozenges, mannitol, lactose, antioxidant, DPPH
