Abstract

Kedondong leaf (Spondias dulcis Soland. Ex Park) contains flavonoids, saponins, tannins, alkaloids that act as antioxidants. Lozenges is a form of tablets for use in the oral cavity are eroded slowly. The aim of the study was to determine kedondong leaf extract which could be made into preparations lozenges as antioxidant supplements with a good physical quality. The design formula of lozenges was made 3 formulas with a combination of mannitol 66%, 44%, 22% and lactose22%, 44%, 66% as a filler and sweetener. Tablet manufacturing using wet granulation method, test the determination of antioxidants in the extract and lozenges used DPPH and then the data were analyzed by ANOVA. The results of the study showed the highest proportion of mannitol could improve the flow properties of granules thus affecting hardness, friability and dissolution time lozenges. Formula which had good flow properties with the flow time of 7.45 ± 0.16, 31.22 ± 0.65 dwell angle, moisture content of 1.93 ± 0.40 and results of 0.002 ± 1.501 weight uniformity, hardness 12 ± 0.67 , the fragility of 0.47 ± 0.15, 9.93 ± 1.81 dissolving time, the test response 95% of respondents expressed like.
