Abstract

Siwak wood (Salvadora persica L) contain substance chemical that are antibacterial and antifungal. Siwak wood chemical constituents are flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, and tannins. This study was conducted to determine the activity antibacterial for n- hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction, water fraction and ethanol extracts of siwak wood (Salvadora persica L), third most active fractions, and minimum inhibition concentration and minimum kill concentration of most fraction active against Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853. The method used in the research is the method of percolation with 70% ethanol solvent followed by solvent n-hexane, ethyl acetate and water. Antibacterial activity test performed by the diffution method and dilution method. Concentration diffution method of ethanol extracts and fraction are used 50%, 25% and 12.5%. Concentration dilution method of ethanol extracts and fraction are used 50%, 25%, 12.5%, 6.25%, 3.125%, 1.5625%, 0.78125% and 0.390625%. The results showed that the diffusion method ethyl acetate fraction had the greatest inhibition at a concentration of 12.5%, while the dilution method that has committed a minimum concentration of 6.25% against the bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853. The fraction of ethyl acetate from ethanol extracts of siwak wood has the most active antibacterial activity compared with a fraction of n-hexane and water fractions.
