Abstract

Breast cancer is the most deadly diseases and widely experienced by women. Samarinda fruit can be used as an alternative cancer treatment. The Contains of Samarinda fruit alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins and tannins. This study aimed to examine the cytotoxic effects and to examine the selectivity index of methanol extract samarinda fruit against breast cancer cell T47D. Methanol extract samarinda fruit was obtained maceration method by methanol. Test cytotoxic on breast cancer cells T47D and cells Vero used MTT (3- (4,5-dimetiltiazol-2-yl) -2,5- difeniltetrazolium bromide) method and the absorbance was read at ELISA reader. This study was performed using seven concentration i.e 500; 250; 125; 62,5; 31,25; 15,625; 7,81 mg/mL. IC50 parameters used were obtained from linear regression between% viability with log concentration and Selectivity Index (IS) was obtained from the ratio of cells Vero IC50 with cells T47D IC50. The results showed that the methanol extract of the samarinda fruit have rather low cytotoxic effect against breast cancer cells T47D with IC50 values 149,332µg/ml selectivity index (SI) the methanol extract of the samarinda fruits against Vero cells (normal cells) is value 2,359.65.
