Abstract

Red betel is one of the original plant of Indonesia to used as either traditional medicine for anti-inflammatory. The purpose of this study to determine the effect of the methanol extract of red betel leaf in terms of weight, toxic symptoms, the amount of erythrocytes, leukocytes, platelets and hematocrit. This study used 50 Wistar rats male and female, were divided into 5 groups. The negative control group were given CMC Na 1 %, dose group of 200 mg / kgbb, dose group of 400 mg / kgbb, dose group of 800 mg / kgbb and satellite group of 800 mg / kgbb. Conducted over 28 days and for a group of satellites plus 14 days to see the effect is reversible. The results of this study showed that the methanol extract of red betel leaf for 28 days can increase body weight rats, did not cause a change in the amount of erythrocytes, leukocytes, platelets and hematocrit.
