Abstract

Sexual disorder is a low urge to have sex. Libido is the urge to have sex. Myristica fragrans Houtt (nutmeg) and Zingiber officinale Rosc (red ginger) is used to increase sexual desire. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of an aphrodisiac with observations counting the number of white male rats climbing into female rats. Test animals were divided into 6 groups. The first group was the negative control, the second was positive control, the third was nutmeg ethanol extract 25 mg/200 g BW, the fourth was ethanol extract of red ginger rhizome 45 mg/200 g BW, the fifth was combination I, the sixth was combination II. Giving the test material performed every day except on day 0. Observations carried out at night by counting the frequency of male rats climbing on days 0, 2, 4, 6, 8. Data were analyzed using Shapiro-Will test followed by Kruskal-Wallis. The results showed that the combination of nutmeg extract 62,5 mg/kg BW and red ginger rhizome extract 112,5 mg/kg BW, nutmeg extract 31,25 mg/kg and red ginger rhizome extract 168,7 mg/kg BW, red ginger extract 225 mg/kg, and there was a real difference between the positive control and the negative control (p<0.05). The conclusion is nutmeg seed extract and red ginger rhizome extract increase sexual desire in rats. Key words : ethanol extract of nutmeg seed and ginger red rhizome, aphrodisiac, white male rats
