Abstract

Salam leaf (Syzygium polyanthum Wight Walp) contains flavonoids, tannins and essential oils that act as antioxidants. Lotion formula of salam leaf extracts using a combination of stearic acid and TEA. The purpose of this study was to investigate the salam leaf extract were formulated in a lotion combination of stearic acid and TEA as an emulsifier to the test of physical and stability quality from the lotion along with antioxidant activity assay. Salam leaf extract obtained by maceration in 70% ethanol to obtain a thick extract. The formulation of Antioxidant lotion used a variation of the concentration of the stearic acid : TEA consists of six formulations , namely F1 (1,25 % : 2 % ), F2 (2.5% : 3 %), F3 (3 % : 4 %), F4 control (-), F5 control (+). Determination of antioxidant activity by DPPH method, the evaluation of the physical quality characteristics lotion on day 1 and day 21. The evaluation of DPPH IC50 measurements results resectively on day - 1 are 105.4 ppm, 114.3 ppm, 119.9 ppm , 2499.6 ppm, 15.8 ppm, after 21 days of storage IC50 value is 203.6 ppm, 210.2 ppm, 224.8 ppm, 2746.6 ppm, 28.1 ppm. The results showed that the lotion was satisfies the greatest stability, physical, and antioxidant assay is F1 using stearic acid and TEA were (1.25 % : 2 %) with IC50 of 105,4 ppm.
