Abstract
Avocado leaves (Persea americana, Mill) are traditionally believed as antibacterial and diuretict. Avocado leaves chemical constituents are flavonods, alkaloids, saponins, and polifenol. The research objective was to determine the extract ethanol,n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate, and water of avocado leaves has antibacterial activity against Enterococcus faecalisATCC 29212; to determine the most active fractions from the third fraction or extract ethanol of avocado leaves in inhibiting bacteria Enterococcus faecalisATCC 29212; to determine the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (KHM) and Minimum Kill Concentration (KBM) of the most active fraction of avocado leaves against Enterococcus faecalisATCC 29212 The method used in the research is the method of percolation with 70% Antibacterial activity test perfomed by the diffusion method at concentration of 75%, 50%, and 25%. And dilution method at concentration of 75%; 37,5%; 18,75%; 9,375%; 4,687%; 2,344%; 1,172%; 0,586%; 0,293% and 0,146%. The results showed that the diffusion method ethyl acetate fraction had the greatest inhibition at a concentration of 25%, while the dilution method that has minimum kill concentration of 18,75% against the bacterium Enterococcus faecalisATCC 29212. Based on the test results of the activities that have been done,ethyl acetate fraction ofthe ethanol extract of avocado leaves antibacterial activity the most effective compared to the fraction of n-hexane and water.
