Abstract

Self-medication is one part of self-care. Treatment itself is defined by selecting and using drugs by an individual to treat diseases or alleviate the symptoms without medical monitoring. Although some drugs are considered to have low risk and are useful for treating common health problems, excessive use can also cause serious side effects and adverse reactions. So the role of pharmacists is essential to provide drug information and monitoring to patients. Questionnaire is used as the instrument of research survey. The data is collected by using non-experimental method with descriptive design. The objects of the study are patients in three pharmacies in the area of Tengaran Subdistrict, Semarang District who are doing self-medication. The data is collected by using non probability sampling with purposive sampling technic with 100 respondents. The result of the study shows the percentage of patient self-medication service by pharmacist about the process of self-medication consultation in Jaya Sehat Pharmacy is 57%, Klero Raya Pharmacy is 57,57%, and Nadia Farma 2 Pharmacy is 74,79%. The percentage of patient self-medication service by pharmacist about satisfactory of medication advice given in Jaya Sehat Pharmacy is 72,23%, Klero Raya Pharmacy is 71,40%, and Nadia Farma 2 Pharmacy is 70,59%. The percentage of the Pharmacist role in patient self-medication service in Jaya Sehat Pharmacy is 54, 94%, Klero Raya Pharmacy is 44,59%, and Nadia Farma 2 is 56,71%.
