Abstract
Hyperlipidemia is a condition marked with increasing of blood lipid levels. Habitually this condition is associated with the risk of atherosclerotic disease. Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is a kind of freshwater fish that contains a variety of nutrient, one of that is omega-3 (EPA and DHA) which can reduce triglyceride levels. This aims of this study are to determine the effect of fish oil Tilapia to decrease triglyceride levels in male rats and the effective doses. Oil of Tilapia was prepared by dry rendering method, with the addition of anhydrous Na2SO4 to separate the water bound to the oil. This study used 30 male rats, divided into six groups. Group I (normal control), group II (PGA 0.5%), Group III (gemfibrozil), Group IV (Tilapia fish oil 4 ml / kg bb), group V (Tilapia fish oil 8 ml / kg bb), group VI (Tilapia fish oil 16 ml / kg bb), previously the rats were given a high-fat diet (lard and egg yolk) for 14 days. The data was obtained and analyzed using one way ANOVA test of Shapiro Wilk followed the path by Post Hoc Test (Tukey HSD). The research results showed there was a decreasing in the levels of triglycerides in the third variation dose of Tilapia fish oil on day 21. At dose of fish oil tilapia at 16 ml / kg bb had been effective levels in decreasing triglyceride levels. Keyword : Tilapia fish, tryglyceride level, male mice.
