Abstract
Pelawan leaves is used by the people in Bangka as antibacteria, fever and pain killer. The aim of this research is to determine activities of ethanol extract of pelawan leaves (Tristaniopsis obovata) dose 80 mg/kg BB, 160 mg/kg BB and 320 mg/kg BB which can decrease blood glucose level on rats. The rats was inducted with alloxan doses 150 mg/kg BB intraperitoneal. Rat has hyperglikemic if the level of blood glucose ≥ 200 mg/dL. The rats divided into 6 groups consist of normal control, positive control glibenklamide 0,09 mg/kg BB, negative control CMC 0,5% and ethanol extract of pelawan leaves doses 80 mg/kg BB, 160 mg/kg BB and 320 mg/kg BB. Measurement of blood glucose level was performed on day 0 ( before the rats inducted with alloxan), day 3 (after the rats are inducted with alloxan and becoming hyperglikemic), day 10 and 17. The percentage of blood glucose level change was analyzed using one way ANOVA. Analysis result showed that all of doses of extract ethanol of pelawan leaves able to decrease the level of blood glucose which doses 320 mg/kg BB with percentage decreasing level of blood glucose is 43,46% was not significantly different from positive control glibenklamide is 40,39%. The test result showed that etanol extract of pelawan leaves dose 80 mg/kg BW, 160 mg/kg BW and 320 mg/kg BW could decrease blood glucose level. Etanol extract of pelawan leaves dose 320 mg/kg BW was effective in decrease blood glucose level. __________________________________________________________________ Keyword: Antidiabetic, pelawan leaves (Tristaniopsis obovata) blood glucose level
