Abstract

Pneumonia is an infectious diseases that was caused inflammation of acute parenchymal compression of the lungs and bacterial exudate from lung tissue. This study was aimed to described the antibiotics used and the compliance to the hospital formulary on pneumonia pediatric patients in Dr. Moewardi Hospital of Surakarta in 2014 and compliance with Clinical Practice Guidelines. This research is a descriptive study with retrospectively searching of medical records data in 2014. The data of antibiotics used was analyzed for the compliance to the Formulary and Clinical Practice Guidelines. The result of the research shows that the antibiotics used on pediatric patients in Dr. Moewardi Hospitals Surakarta in 2014 were group of penicillins (34.28% ampicillin), group of chloramphenicol (19.85% chloramphenicol), group of amoeba (13.57% metronidazole), group of glycopeptides (0.71 % vancomycin), group of aminoglycosides (10% gentamicin), cephalosporins (12.85% ceftriaxone, 1.42% cefixime, 5% cefotaxime, 1.42% ceftazidime), group of beta-lactam (0.71% meropenem) and the group of macrolides (0.71% erythromycin). The antibiotics were most widely used is ampicillin (36.84%) and most widely used antibiotics combination are the combination of ampicillin and chloramphenicol (40.98%). The antibiotics used on pediatric patients in Dr. Moewardi Hospitals Surakarta is in conformity with the formulary of Dr. Moewardi Hospital Surakarta (100%) and compliance with Clinical Practice Guidelines to the appropriate indication (100 %), appropriate drug (20.25 %), appropriate dose (6.32 %) and appropriate patient (100 %).
