Abstract
Appendicitis is an inflammation due to infection of the appendix. These infections can lead to pus. This study aims to determine the use of prophylaxis antibiotic in appendicitis patients at surgery ward of Dr. Moewardi Hospital in 2013 and 2014. This research was descriptive study with retrospective data collection from medical record of appendicitis surgery patient in 2013 and 2014. The study was antibiotic use in appendicitis surgery patient in Dr. Moewardi Hospital. The method using Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical (ATC) or Defined Daily Dose (DDD). Based on the result of antibiotic use by ATC / DDD and DU90% methods, the results concluded that most widely use of antibiotic by DU90% segment in 2013 were ceftriaxon (95.92), ceftazidime (2,04) and amoksisilin (2,04). And in 2014 were ceftriaxon (96.56), Gentamicyn (2.75) and Cefotaxime (0.69). %) and based ISFI guideline in 2013 (0%) and 2014 (0%). Keywords: Antibiotic, Appendicitis, ATC/DDD, DU90%
