Abstract

Carandas leaves (Carissa carandas L) contains alcaloid, flavonoid, steroid, tritepenoid, and tanin compound. The existence of flavonoid, triterpenoid, and alkaloid compound push to do the research in order to know the sitotoksik activity of metanol extract and carandas by MTT with IC50 parameter. The carandas leaves powder is maserated with methanol. The sitotoksik activity of methanol extract is tested by MTT method using 5 concentrations, those are 250, 125, 62.5, 31.25, 15.625, 7.81 µg/ml. The absorbansi value is read by ELISA reader 585 nm wave length. The result then is converted into % viabikity live cell is counted by IC50 value. The result of sitotoksik activity bresearch shows that methanol ectract has 68 µg/ml in IC50 value. The IC50 data got has potensial sitotoksik activity.
